Before Barbies there were Ginny dolls

This month I celebrated another trip around the sun. It reminded me of my 8thbirthday when Gertrude made all my Ginny dolls a new wardrobe. I still have some of them and the clothes she made by hand. What a treasure to still have them. Ginny was a small doll, 8”, that resembled a toddler, not the unrealistic teenage doll called Barbie.

She had legs that allowed her to walk with stiff knees. She did have eye lashes and beautiful hair. I enjoyed playing with them and some of them are worse for the wear. If I had kept them in the box they came in and not “man handled “ them I would have some valuable toys. But the memories are worth more than a sale on eBay!
