I wonder what Gertrude would have to say about leaf blowers. I think she would hate the noise as much as I do. We live in Kansas now and the leaves are not just falling but blowing, from everyone’s yard into ours.
I remember in Buffalo; everyone would rack their leaves into nice piles. Some would burn them and others would mulch them. Racking leaves was fun as a kid especially when you got
to jump into the leaf pile. I remember the cold, crisp days having to bundle up to start racking and then peeling off the clothing layers as the day got warmer and you started to work up a sweat working. There was something about the change of season that was refreshing and made you think about the winter that was soon to arrive.
At any rate leaf blowers going off all day long as each neighbor takes turns blowing their leaves somewhere is not the kind of memory I like.
