If you do not have your health, then you do not have much!

Yes, Gertrude used to say something like that. I had hoped to share some great stories with you about traditions of Christmas and New Years at Gertrude’s house but Santa brought me covid.

I am fine now but it was a crappy two weeks of a headache and coughing. I slept and drank lots of fluids. Still cannot taste much just salty stuff.

My dear husband has been a wonderful caregiver. But he did say more than once that I make a better nurse than patient! I have no patience.

Being sick as a kid usually meant I stayed with Gertrude. My mother worked and to tell the truth she had less patience and no nurturing ability when I was well, let alone ill.

Gertrude must have had some nursing training at some point in time, maybe during the pandemic of 1917. She knew how keep someone comfortable even when they were itching all aver from chicken pox or had a swollen jaw due to mumps. Remember I was born before vaccinations. I was a Guinee pig for the polio vaccine. I do not know if they will give me a covid vaccination because I have made the antibodies right now. My husband is signing up for his first shot.

Soon I hope to have more blog stories but for now, stay well.
