Who knew how handy this thing would be when I turned 40 years old? I remember Gertrude loved to sew but hated to thread the needle. When I was near, she would ask me to do it. It was easy, what could be her problem? I was happy to help because she was often sewing something for me. But the eye of the needle was so easy to see then, when I was a kid. Now it is a challenge and without this little instrument, I would be looking for a magnifying glass. They must have made the eye of the needle smaller.
It is so much fun for me to remember what I did as a child just by looking at something as simple as this threader. So many great times sitting at Gertrude’s feet as she would be working on a project. She was a wonderful seamstress and I have her old white sewing machine. That machine can go through any fabric. I had it refurbished a few years ago and it works better than the new one. I am so thankful for all the sewing lessons she taught me.
